Artist Biography

Sarah Hessinger (b.1975 in Buffalo, New York) is a contemporary abstract painter. Attending the Maryland Institute College of Art & Design before heading west, Hessinger later studied at The California School of Herbal Studies. Spending most of her time in gardens exploring the seen and unseen forces in nature, she became enthralled with our natural world.

Awarded 18th place in an international Juxtapoz Magazine-sponsored contest, and a solo show in 2018 solidified Hessinger’s commitment to sharing her art. Her work can be found in public and private collections across the United States. She has been exhibited in Seattle, Portland, Maui, Chicago, San Francisco, and the Marin Museum of Contemporary Art in Novato, CA. As a self-taught artist, she continues to carve her path with dedication and passion, striving to inspire conversations about our natural world, the changes that are taking place, and how we can become better stewards of our internal and external ecosystems.
